Program Goals and Objectives
Asian Health and Service Center launched Oregon’s first Asian Cancer Resource and Support Center last October. The center will provide culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer resources, educational materials, and support Asian women, men, and families coping with the stress of a cancer diagnosis through the community based cancer patient navigation services and resource library. The center has trained bilingual and bicultural volunteers who are cancer patients, survivors, and family members themselves to share their cancer journeys to their peers who are facing similar challenges and barriers every day. The center will also improve patients’ treatment compliance and successful recovery through the collaboration with cancer care team at the treatment sites.
